By accessing or using Koba ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all terms, you may not access or use the Service. These terms apply to all users, including visitors, registered users, and contributors.
Koba is an AI assistant for shared money that helps individuals and groups split bills, scan receipts, track shared spaces and subscriptions, and settle up. The Service includes messaging (iMessage, SMS, and WhatsApp), the companion Koba iOS app, this website, and related APIs. Features may change as the Service evolves.
To use certain features, you must create an account with accurate, complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service; interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers; transmit malicious code, spam, or fraudulent content; reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service; or impersonate any person or entity.
All content, features, and functionality of the Service, including text, graphics, logos, icons, and software, are the exclusive property of Koba Money, Ltd. and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.
Koba is not a bank, financial advisor, payment processor, or licensed financial institution. The Service is provided for informational and organizational purposes only: Koba tracks who owes whom, but money moves outside the Service (e.g., Venmo, Interac, cash). Koba does not provide investment, tax, legal, or financial advice. You are solely responsible for your financial decisions. AI-extracted receipt data and currency conversions are estimates and may contain errors. Review before relying on them.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using Koba, you consent to the collection and use of information as described therein, including AI processing of receipts and messages by third-party providers who are not permitted to train on your data. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest and is never sold.
Koba is a texting-first service. By texting Koba's number, connecting Messages from the app or website, or joining a shared space that uses messaging, you consent to receive text messages from Koba, including replies, account notifications, and (if enabled) proactive reminders and digests. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop proactive messages, PAUSE to pause them, START to resume, HELP for help, or DISCONNECT to unlink a conversation at any time. Consent to messaging is not a condition of purchasing any paid feature.
Koba offers one paid plan, Koba Premium, sold in three billing periods: $115.99 per year, $18.99 per month, or $7.99 per week. New users get a free trial with everything included (7 days on the monthly and weekly plans and over text, 30 days on the yearly plan); unless you cancel before the trial ends, the first charge is made when it does. Without an active subscription your data remains yours at no charge: you can sign in, view, and export everything you tracked, restore purchases, and Koba still answers balances and settle-ups over text; adding new entries to your ledger and receipt scanning require an active subscription or trial. Friends of a paying subscriber never need a paid plan of their own: any space with a paying member is fully available to everyone in it. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You may cancel at any time in the App Store or the billing portal, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We reserve the right to change pricing or to offer additional plans with 30 days' notice. Refunds are provided at our discretion.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. Koba uses artificial intelligence to interpret messages, receipts, and financial data; AI output may be incomplete or incorrect, and Koba does not warrant that any balance, split, reminder, or other output is accurate, timely, or error-free. You are responsible for reviewing amounts before settling. Koba does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors or harmful components.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Koba and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitations of liability.
We may revise these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the Service. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Edmonton, Alberta.
