In testing with the pilot group before it opens to everyone.
Thursday crew

- You: @koba pizza was CA$72, split it with everyone here
- Koba: CA$18.00 each for Maya, Leo, the new number and you. who’s the new number?
- Sam: it’s Sam
- Koba: thanks Sam, saved for this group. you owe Avery CA$18.00
- Avery’s phone lists Leo as “Leo P climbing”. The group only sees “Leo”.
What it’s for
- Recognise people in a group chat by name
- Ask a newcomer their name once, and save only their answer
Connecting it
- In the app, allow contacts access when asked.
- Or export a contact card on your phone and upload it from the link Koba texts you.
First result. People in your groups show up by name instead of by number.
What it can see, and who sees it.
- Access
- From the iPhone app with your permission. On the web, a contacts file you export from your phone works too.
- You need
- The Koba iPhone app, or a contact file for the web import.
- Who sees it
- Your contact names help Koba address people to you. A group sees the name each person gave, never your nickname for them.
- Switching it off
- Turn contacts off in iOS Settings. Imported names can be removed.
